Might As Well

So I'm at work bored out of my mind waiting for the last patient to come out of surgery which won't be for another hour and I figure, why not update the ol' blog? I don't have pictures but I'm already slacking on my goal to document our lives better. I'll start at Christmas... We went home to AZ and loved every minute of it. It was so fun to see family and friends and even harder to come back to Utah. Brock turned 28 on Jan 6... such an old man! Not really but I can't believe how time is flying. I'm having a hard time remembering what we did for his birthday. I know we tried to see Mission Impossible 3 (he succeeded, I had to leave with the baby half way) then went to eat at Tucano's. We didn't really do anything else because it's hard to do things with a baby (hence me missing MI3). Brock is still not loving his job. I know this is hard for people to understand but the job isn't what Brock thought it would be. The interview was very misleading and it's frustrating to go to school for 5 years or so and work in a job where you are the only one with a degree and everyone hates their job. Brock is a glorified mechanic, not an engineer and he's frustrated. He feels like he's wasting his time up here even though this job is good and gives us benefits. He's not happy which makes me unhappy. Soooo... our plan is to get our savings built up and then jet when we reach our goal. We left our rad house in AZ to live in a two bedroom apartment... what were we thinking?! Plus, we've moved 3 or 4 times in the last 6 months. Punch me in the face. First we move from AZ to Lehi. Then from Lehi we move into the one bedroom apartment. From the one bedroom we finally moved into a two bedroom. I'm so done with moving! It's amazing my child is still alive... she was so neglected every time we moved. I will say this move has been a good experience and I think we needed it to see that we don't like being away from family. Plus, if we hadn't taken the job, we would have always wondered "what if"? So now we know and we move on! My job is great. SO much easier than my last job. I'm actually bored. But, the job is flexible (which I love) and brings in extra income to bring us closer to our savings goal. The best part about working in surgery is no weekends or holidays. How cool is that? Addie is getting so big. She's starting to take a few steps by herself and it's pretty exciting to think she'll be walking really soon. I'm sure I'll regret that once she actually starts walking but it honestly doesn't matter becasue she's already into everything. That's about it! We just work and try not to miss AZ too bad. It gets really lonely up here and it's getting harder to be away but we try to stay positive and focus on getting back as soon as we can! Pictures to hopefully come later (but probably not so don't get your hopes up... like anybody reads this anyway)!

Love This Guy

If you recognize what movie this is from you are one of the coolest people I know. I watched Conan last night mostly because I love Andy Richter BUT more so because Martin Short was on. I LOVE him. Maybe it was me or something I ate but I laughed the entire time. If you don't know what movie this picture is from, you need to stop what you're doing and go watch Pure Luck. Best. Movie. Ever. Ok, maybe not ever, but pretty close.

Is It Really 2012?!

I've been reading about everyone's fabulous parties on ringing in the New Year and I have to say mine is pretty tough to compete with. Brock worked and I fell asleep at 11:15 pm. I really tried to make this New Year better than last time. Last year I was preggo and fell asleep after a very long 12 hour shift and woke up to Brock forcing me out of the chair to record him lighting off fireworks. Then I went straight to bed after that. Honestly though, what am I going to do by myself? It's crazy to think another year has passed and what have I done with my life? This past year was pretty eventful. Brock turned 27 years old, Addie was born (I cry every time I think about that lately), Brock graduated with honors from ASU, we moved up to Utah, and we both lost weight from doing the wheat free diet. I know everyone makes resolutions on the start of a New Year but I usually don't because I just know I'm not going to keep them. But this year is different. Why? Because I said so. I have some major goals I want to accomplish and if I can be disciplined enough to not eat wheat, I can other hard things too. I'm not saying eating wheat free was the hardest thing I've ever had to do, but for those who know me, it was quite the accomplishment. SO... here's to 2012! May all your wildest dreams come true! :)

Harder Than I Thought

Today I did something I thought I would never do. We gave Harley away. It's funny because she drove me crazy & I always talked about giving her away but I wasn't sure I had the heart to do it. For some reason, I decided to see if someone wanted her so I put up an ad on KSL and she was gone in less than 24 hours. I didn't completely hate her... she was just too much at times and even though she is the sweetest dog ever, I just couldn't shake the thought that we needed to give her up. I kinda did it without telling Brock & I'm sure I'm going to be in trouble for eternity for what I've done. If we get a divorce it's over giving Harley away. The guy who took her was very nice and I know he'll take good care of her. It was SO hard watching him drive away with her but I know this is something we needed to do. We weren't the worst pet owners in the world, but she definitely needed more love & attention than we were giving her. She was like family and we will miss her but we're having to make some sacrifices and unfortunately, she is one of them. Duke will be going to stay with Grandpa Steve in AZ. We'll see how he does without Harley because that's the whole reason we got her. Hopefully someday my husband can forgive me.

What's New?

Utah has been good to us so far. Brock is homesick but I'm doing pretty good. We've been trying to get out and explore so we can enjoy the nice weather while we can.

Hike to Battlecreek Falls

The falls! It was super loud but totally awesome

View from the top... or at least where we stopped hiking
Picnic lunch before our hike at Millcreek Canyon

We had our family come visit and it was SO fun getting to see everybody. This is Max putting grass on Harley's head while she waits for him to throw the ball

We missed our family the minute they left. Hopefully we get to see them soon because we're not sure if we're making it home for any of the holidays. Otherwise, life is good and we are truly blessed!!
